Hood River

From I-84, take exit 64 and follow signs to the Hood River Information Center.

Emigrant men and boys herded their livestock along the south bank of the Columbia River crossing the Dog, or Hood, River on their way to the Upper Cascades. Other members of the group, those who were ill and women and their children, often rafted on makeshift boats.
